Our Commitment to Safety and Dignity
At Voice of Encouragement Tanzania (VET), safeguarding is at the heart of everything we do. As a rightsholder-led, women-led organization, we are unwavering in our commitment to creating safe, supportive, and inclusive spaces for every individual, especially the girls and young women we serve. We are guided by the principles of dignity, respect, and equality, ensuring that every person we interact with is protected from harm, abuse, exploitation, and neglect.
Code of Conduct and Discipline: At VET, we maintain a zero-tolerance approach to misconduct, harassment, and abuse. Our Code of Conduct ensures that everyone involved, from staff to volunteers, upholds the highest ethical standards, fostering a safe and respectful environment for all.
Addressing Sexual Harassment and Violence: VET proactively prevents and addresses any form of sexual harassment or violence. We provide survivors with confidential, empathetic support and guide them through justice-seeking processes, ensuring their dignity is always protected.
Protecting Children and Young People: Safeguarding children is central to our work. We enforce rigorous child protection measures to prevent abuse or exploitation, embedding child-safe practices across all our programs and activities.
Human Resource Practices: At VET, recruitment, onboarding, and training processes are designed to align staff and volunteers with our safeguarding principles. Everyone involved is fully equipped to champion VET’s mission and values.
Caring for Our Team: We prioritize the well-being of our team through initiatives like mental health support, reflection sessions, retreats, and paid leave. This ensures our staff remains motivated and protected from burnout while continuing to deliver impactful work
Accountability and Transparency At VET, safeguarding is everyone's responsibility. We maintain open communication channels for reporting concerns and act swiftly to address any breaches of our policies.
