Voice of Encouragement Tanzania (VET) is a rightsholder-led, women-led movement committed to dismantling barriers, challenging oppression, and amplifying the voices of marginalized girls and young women in Tanzania. We exist to rewrite the narrative—to ensure that no girl is forced into silence, stripped of her dreams, or denied the right to a future of her own choosing. We are here to restore dignity, ignite hope, and unleash the unstoppable power that lies within every girl.
Our story began in 2017, sparked by a painful yet undeniable truth: across Tanzania, countless girls are trapped in relentless cycles of gender-based violence (GBV), early and forced marriages, unintended pregnancies, and systemic inequalities that steal their potential before they even have a chance to thrive. For too long, their cries have gone unheard, their pain dismissed, their futures stolen by oppressive norms, discriminatory practices, and deeply entrenched societal injustices. But we refuse to let this continue. VET was born out of the realization that these girls don’t need pity they need power.

We believe in the unshakable strength of girls and young women—their resilience, their intelligence, their limitless capacity to shape the world around them. They are not weak. They are not victims.
