About us
Voice of Encouragement Tanzania (VET) is a rightsholder-led, women-led organization dedicated to advancing gender equality and safeguarding the rights of marginalized women and girls in Tanzania. Established in May 2017, VET was founded in response to the critical need for grassroots-driven solutions to systemic inequalities, gender-based violence (GBV), early marriage, and unintended pregnancies.
Our vision
A Tanzania where every woman and girl is safe, empowered, and free to reach her full potential, regardless of her background, identity, or circumstances.
Our mission
To break the cycle of gender-based violence, systemic inequality, and socio-economic exclusion by equipping marginalized women and girls with the tools, resources, and opportunities they need to thrive.
Intersectionality
At the heart of our work is a firm commitment to intersectionality, linking and learning, and a human rights-based approach that ensures no woman or girl is left behind due to her gender, socioeconomic background, disability, or any other intersecting form of marginalization. VET recognizes that the struggles faced by women and girls are not monolithic but are shaped by complex layers of discrimination, including poverty, disability, cultural norms, and gender identity. As such, our interventions are designed to be inclusive, responsive, and transformative addressing not just the symptoms of injustice but also the structural barriers that perpetuate inequality. We strongly believe in the power of collective action, collaboration, and shared learning, ensuring that knowledge is not just transferred but co-created with communities, policymakers, and partner organizations to drive sustainable change.
Link and Learn
VET firmly believes that knowledge is dynamic and that the most effective solutions come from those directly affected by injustice. Our Linking & Learning approach fosters a culture of collaboration, knowledge exchange, and continuous adaptation. By creating platforms where rightsholders, community leaders, and experts come together, we refine our interventions based on lived experiences, research, and cross-sector engagement.
